Rukman Senananayake, UNP Assistant Leader and grandson of the Party’s founder and the first Prime Minister, the late D. S. Senanayake, has been denied a National List slot. He is one of the four UNPstalwarts on the UNF National List.

Former Minister D. M. Jayaratne, who is one of the UPFA National List MPs was swon in as Prime Minister before President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday at Temple Trees. Jayaratne, one of the founder members of the SLFP ook over as Prime Minister from Ratnasiri Wickremanayake, but is likely to hold office only for a few months until President Rajapaksa takes his oaths for his second term in November.
